Outfitting and Mobilisation of Pacific Worker and Pacific Warlock
In May/June 2007, Orwell Offshore engineers played key roles in the engineering, planning and mobilisation of anchor-handling tugs: ‘Pacific Worker’ and ‘Pacific Warlock’ for the Puffin Field STP mooring installation off the north coast of Darwin, Australia.
Initiated from Loyang Offshore Supply Base in Singapore, the Pacific Warlock was mobilised as the main anchor and chain-carrying vessel, managing to fit and seafasten four 43-tonne Stevshark anchors onto its 12.8m x 37m deck, including 165 tonnes of chain and various other subsea mooring components.
The Pacific Worker shipped two 43-tonne Stevshark anchors and 140 tonnes of chain into the Puffin field, and had an additional mezzanine deck structure designed and engineered by Orwell Offshore to accommodate a full work clan ROV spread. The Pacific Worker was used as an anchor installation vessel and also served as the main subsea observation vessel during the installation of the anchors, chains, the STP buoy and subsequent riser installation work.
