Orwell Offshore was asked to undertake the design of the mooring system for a barge conversion project. The converted barge will be operating as an accommodation/cable-laying/maintenance vessel to service the offshore industry, including the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors.

Hydrodynamic analysis of the vessel was carried out using the specialised hydrodynamic software developed by Bureau Veritas, HydroStar to predict its motion characteristics.

Using the mooring analysis software, ARIANE-3D, suitable mooring configurations were designed for the vessel to operate at a range of water depths in various sea conditions typical in different geographical areas, including West Africa, Gulf of Mexico and Southern North Sea
