Orwell Offshore carries out detailed Finite Element Analyses of structures, FPSOs, supply boats, mooring components and equipment supports. The modelling utilises ‘SolidWorks’, and analysis is carried out with ANSYS. These state-of-the-art programs allow for advanced analysis on even the most complex problems.

Simpler framed structures and modules are analysed using the 3D beam analysis program STAAD Pro.

Results from analyses are used both to demonstrate the integrity of the items and acceptability to appropriate design codes and classification societies. They also provide stress data for input into detailed fatigue analysis.
